Love a Layover: Turn Transit Into Travel
Layovers don't have to be wasted hours of bad coffee and airport carpet naps. Done right, they're the travel world's best-kept BOGO deal: one ticket, two (or three!) destinations.
Why Book a Layover on Purpose?
Two (or Three) Trips for the Price of One – Maximize your mileage and your travel flex.
Break Up Brutal Long-Hauls – Sleep in a bed, shower like a human, stretch your legs.
Test-Drive a City – Love it? Plan a real trip. Hate it? You’re gone in 12 hours.
Cheaper Fares – Connections often cost less than nonstop! Who doesn’t love more cash for cocktails.
Better Flight Options & Points – More routes, more ways to earn.
Eat (and Drink) Local – From Singapore hawker stalls to Lisbon wine bars. Leave that airport experience life on the outside.

Before you go building an itinerary around that dreamy free hotel
Check Visa Requirements: Many countries require a transit visa, even for short stays. Always confirm entry rules before booking.
Know the Minimum Layover Time: Programs often require at least 6–8 hours (some 20+ hours for free hotel nights).
Book Early: Popular stopover programs (especially free ones) have limited hotel allotments.
Confirm Eligibility: Some only apply to round-trip international tickets or certain classes.
Mind Your Bags: Check if your luggage transfers automatically. Otherwise, pack a carry-on with essentials or utilize baggage storage within the airport for day trips.
Don’t Miss Your Connection: It’s your responsibility to get back to the airport on time. Even if the city tour program you’re with says you’ll be back in time!
Final Boarding Call
Think of layovers as a bonus round, not a burden. With a little planning, that "inconvenient connection" could be the best part of your trip! Whether it's tapas in Madrid, a desert sunset in Dubai, or a hot spring soak in Reykjavik.
